When William Hewston retired
from the Fire Service in the 1950’s, and decided to keep a few chickens
in his back garden to supply ex-colleagues, he would never have dreamt,
this would eventually lead to Bumble Hole Foods being one of the most
respected suppliers of egg products in the UK.
In 1964, William’s son,
David then purchased the 10 acre site at Bumble Hole, in Bromsgrove,
Worcestershire and set up Bumble Hole Eggs, producing and grading fresh
eggs to supply to local shops. The company continued to grow and by the
1970’s was an important egg producer in the region.
As the demand for processed
egg products increased, Bumble Hole then expanded the site and built a
purpose built factory, producing pasteurised egg, then in the 1990’s
hard boiled egg and egg mayonnaise.
During 2005-2008 Bumble Hole
Foods invested heavily in state of the art machinery, including
breaking, pasteurisation and filling systems, inline homogenization as
well as an egg shell drying unit.
Bumble Hole Foods is now run
by David’s son, Andrew together with a highly trained and dedicated
staff, producing a wide range of egg products to a large number of
customers. We are proud of our history, but are always looking to the
future.
